Troubleshooting VIN and Coupon Scanners

Confirm Caps Lock is Disabled

If Caps Lock is enabled, it alters what is being scanned into Driverse.

  1. Locate the Caps Lock key on the keyboard. If a light is shown on the key, it indicates Caps Lock is currently enabled. Press the Caps Lock key on the keyboard to disable it.

  2. If there is no light on the Caps Lock key, try typing in an email or other program. If the typed text is in CAPITAL letters, it indicates that Caps Lock is enabled. Press the Caps Lock key on the keyboard to disable it.

  3. Once the Caps Lock has been disabled, try scanning again. If the issue remains, follow the steps in the Power Cycle the Scanner section.

Power Cycle the Scanner

If the scanner is directly connected to the computer using a USB Cable:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable from the computer. Wait 5-10 seconds.

  2. Reconnect the USB cable to the computer.

  3. If needed, move the USB cable to a different USB port on the computer.

If the scanner has a base:

  1. Disconnect the base from the power outlet. Wait 5-10 seconds.

  2. Reconnect the base to the power outlet.

  3. If needed, move the USB cable from the base to a different USB port on the computer.
