Repair Order Printer Hardware Troubleshooting

  • Verify the printer is connected to power and all cables are secure.

  • Verify the printer has no error indicators displayed on the LCD screen.

Verify Repair Order Printer is Recognized by Windows

Ensure the repair order printer is recognized by Windows by checking the computer’s Printers & scanners settings.

  1. Access the Windows Start Menu by clicking the Windows icon. The icon and its location will differ depending on the computer’s Operating System.
    Windows 10 Start Icon: Typically located in the lower left corner of the screen.

  2. Once the Windows Start Menu opens, click Settings. If Settings is not displayed, type Settings into the search bar.

  1. When Settings opens, click Devices. For Windows 11, click Bluetooth & devices as shown below.

  2. Click Printers & scanners.

  3. The Printers & scanners page will display all printers and scanners detected by the computer.

Set Repair Order Printer as the Default Printer

Repair order printers must be set as the Default Printer to work properly with Driverse.

To set the the repair order printer as the Default Printer:

  1. In the Printers & scanners page, scroll down to ensure that the Let Windows manage my default printer setting is disabled.

    Windows 10: If enabled, click the checkbox to disable the setting.

  2. Locate and click the repair order printer in the displayed list on the Printers & scanners page. In this example, the repair order printer is the HP M404.

    Windows 10: Click the Manage button, then click the Set as Default button.

Test Printing from the Repair Order Printer

Once the repair order printer is set as the Default Printer, test if it can print from Windows and Driverse.

Test Printing from Windows

To print a test page from Windows:

  1. Select the repair order printer from the Printers & scanners page.

    Windows 10: Click Manage, then click Print a test page.

    Windows 11: Once the repair order printer has been selected, the Print test page option will be displayed. Click Print test page.

  2. If the test page prints, follow the steps in the Test Printing from Driverse section.

Test Printing from Driverse

After successfully printing a test page from Windows, try to reprint an invoice from Driverse.

  1. Open Driverse, then select Quick Lube from the navigation menu.

  2. In the repair order list, click Completed.

  3. Click on a completed repair order from the displayed list.

  4. Once the repair order opens, click the Print button. The print window opens.

  5. In the print window, click the Print button.

  6. An additional print preview window will open with the computer’s selected default printer displayed. Verify that the printer selection is accurate, then click the Print button to print the invoice.

  7. Once the invoice has printed, click the Close button to exit the print window.

  8. Click the View All Repair Orders link to return to the Quick Lube page.
