When processing a credit card transaction, a variety of errors may be received. Below is a list of the most common and possible causes.
Invalid Swipe
Dirty Card
Confirm magnetic strip on card is clean
Confirm no grease or liquid on card
Dirty MSR
Clean MSR with canned air, ensure no particles are stuck
Use soft cloth and rubbing alcohol to gently clean inside of MSR
Swiping Too Fast
Try swiping slower
Card Did Not Make Proper Contact
Try swiping back to front or front to back
Turn card around and swipe with magnetic strip facing other direction
Duplicate Swipe
Indication that card was swiped more than once in a short time frame
Possibly from two (2) different transactions or after receiving invalid swipe error and attempting to swipe again
Time Out While Trying to Process Card
Verify workstation has internet connection
Verify internet connection is not blocked, such as an anti-virus or firewall
NOTE: In some circumstances, the customer’s router or modem could block connection. The customer must contact whomever manages the network to verify nothing, such as a firewall or anti-virus, is blocking the outbound connection
Error Processing Credit Cards: The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel
If using eLube Version 6, update to Version 6.960.110P14 or higher
If using eLube Version 7, update to Version 7.000.097P39 or higher
Error during handshake the message received was unexpected or badly formatted
Verify workstation has internet connection
